"THE BATTLE FOR CONTROL OF FLORIDA..."

This impressive and epic commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Olustee (or Ocean Pond) commemorates the largest Civil War battle in Florida.

In the early afternoon of February 20, 1864 -- battle was joined on the floor of a forest of virgin pines. Men stood and fought in the open forest with neither force constructing earthworks. The battle raged until dark, when the Union forces began a hasty retreat.  The Olustee defeat ended Union efforts to organize a loyal Florida government in time for the 1864 election.

In proportion to the number of troops involved, it was one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War.

Our one-of-a-kind, high-definition re-enactment footage is the background to an epic spectacle. Featuring thousands of re-enactors, no other docu-drama or film has placed you on the battlefield of Olustee quite like this -- telling the broader story of Florida's role in the Civil War.

From multi-award winning filmmaker Kevin R. Hershberger ("Wicked Spring","Medal of Honor","The Ultimate Civil War Series"), our cameras were embedded with the soldiers on the field of battle for six large-scale re-enactments at Olustee; each taking place on the original battlefield - now a state park.
